Dairy as a cause of acne/ My journey of eating clean

8:28 AM

So lately I have been breaking out a lot and since school is over it can't be because of stress.... so I started doing some research about how what I eat  affects my skin and my bodies hormonal balance. What I discovered was, that everything high in saturated fats and carbs is bad for the skin and makes it look older, so I decided to cut out processed foods from my diets. However,  the acne didn't get much better... so that's when I  decided to go lactose free for a week and I'm seeing amazing results right now. My skin only has a few pimples that are healing and I have almost no acne cysts YAYYY!!
The reason why it helped is probably because I might be a bit lactose intolerant and since that stresses the body, then the body reflects it on the skin and then the endless cycle begins when you think that you're not taking good enough care of your skin when actually your body is crying out for help.
I also started eating clean this week and I've already lost some weight and I feel much more energized then ever before. So basically when eating clean the rules are quite simple.
1. You eat foods as close to their original form as possible. (That means stay away from wheat flour, white rice and all processed foods)
2. Try to avoid dairy products and replace them with almond milk or any other alternative available near you.
3. Do not eat white sugar!! This is really important and I thought this needed to be an independent bullet point since a lot of  foods (home-made jam and etc.) have white sugar in them but aren't really that processed.
You can always find alternatives to unhealthy foods you just have to make an effort :D
The person who inspired me to start eating clean was Cassey Ho, more often known for her youtube channel blogilates. Check her out, she has awesome recipes of everyday foods made clean for beginners :D

Here's a photo of a pizza I made, it doesn't have any flour and the crust is made of cauliflower, the pizza I've ever had.

Also made some overnight oats for breakfast, added some re currants an cinnamon, OH GOSH, it was supreme :D
